Buffalo Opera Nixes October show

"The Mother of us All" is cancelled.

As the cuts go on, Buffalo Opera Unlimited has elected to cancel their October production of The Mother of Us All. The 1947 opera composed by Virgil Thomas, with a libretto by Gertrude Stein, chronicles the life of Susan B. Anthony, fancifully bringing in real and fictional characters from American history.

As the company lamented in making the announcement, "Unfortunately, opera and social distancing just don't go together!"

They remain optimistic, however that their December production of Georges Bizet's "Carmen" might go ahead as planned.
