Alleyway Theatre is now accepting resumes for all positions for current and future openings.

 

Register here for an in person appointment for General auditions for Alleyway's upcoming and future seasons:


Choose a 5 minute appointment on August 10 or 11. Then, arrive at the Alleyway early to check in. Their entrance is on the south side of the building ... in the alley!


They ask that you prepare two brief contrasting monologues from modern/contemporary plays, one preferably with a British RP accent. Bring your hardcopy headshot/resume. Your audition should be about 3 minutes including both monologues.

(They will not be hearing songs at this time.)


This audition is open to all.

THE COTTAGE

All of these characters are probably mid 30s/mid40s.

  • SYLVIA, a lovely and rash romantic.

  • BEAU, perhaps the best looking man in Britain.

  • MARJORIE, 8 months pregnant, pragmatic and a tad spicy.

  • CLARKE, a distinguished gent with a lover’s spirit.

  • DIERDRE, an awfully pretty, sometimes wise, nincompoop.

  • RICHARD a murderous, yet gentle soul.

BLACK BEAR ISLAND

  • AMITRA - late 20’s to 30’s, she/her. Always on the run. Has a deep scar from temple to jaw.

  • WARREN - late 20’s to 30’s, he/him. Bearded, Charming, and Dead™.

  • RUBY - early teens, she/her. Woods-wise, operates on animal instinct. Deadpan. Mistrusts adults. Hates you.

  • MARJORIE - 40’s-60’s, she/her. The Friendliest Neighbor You Never Wanted. Texan accent. Talks fast, listens less.

  • GIRL - 14-16 years old, she/her. Free-spirited, sharp, reckless, and deeply angry.

  • BOY - 14-16 years old, he/him. Anxious, logical, very “in love” and not sure wha the fuck to do about it.

  • FINN - 12-13 years old, he/him. BOY’S little brother. Eager, desperate to fit in.

  • DENNIS THE UPS GUY - he/him. Not paid enough for the amount of shit he deals with.

  • THE MAN - 20’s-30’s, he/him. Clever, ruthless, horribly sane.

THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD

An Agatha Christie Mystery

  • Mr. Ralph Paton Ackroyd’s Stepson (also plays Parker, The Watchman) Male, 30’s

  • Miss Flora Ackroyd Ackroyd’s Niece (also plays Miss Gannett) Female, 20’s

  • Miss Ursula Bourne Ackroyd’s Parlor Maid (also plays the Inspector, Mrs. Folliot, Agnes) Female, 30’s

  • Major Blunt Ackroyd’s Friend (also plays Mr. Hammond) Male, 40’s

Other roles in the season will be available in A KIDMAN CAROL, as well as Alleyworks developmental workshops and readings. A play reading festival will also be held in October with multiple plays and many roles.

Currently seeking designers for the 23/24 mainstage and development productions, as well as for future seasons. Designers are hired on a show by show basis, and Alleyway hires talent from the Western New York region, as well as from across the country.
